Is this your first time touring in America?
Steven: Yeah, this is the first full tour. We did do a few shows in New York City with Teenage Fanclub and we did an in-store at Other Music, so it's just been N.Y. so far, now we can venture out. This is like the fourth show so far on this tour.
Have things been going good?
Steven: It varies, we were in N.Y. last night and it was packed Philadelphia the night before was not (laughs). Washington was nice. It's good 'cause a lot of different people have been coming to the gigs, thinking...well not knowing what to think really.
John: Same with tonight, we can't tell yet how it's gonna be, ya know, we go on late, it's not all ages.
Do you try to mainly play all ages shows?
Steven: Oh yeah, we're underage, we're all under 21. Doesn't matter, tonight'll be fun. Grand Royal has been promoting us well.
How did you hook up with them?
Steven: Well the label we're on in Britain Wiija did a Hurricane record, ya know DJ Hurricane, so we we're already kinda linked. And we toured with Bikini Kill in Britain, and Katherine Hannah of Bikini Kill gave a record of ours to Adam Horowitz. So then we just came over last summer and checked out the whole scene. We had a bunch of labels to choose from and we decided to go with Grand Royal, hopefully we made the right choice.
John: They're about the music and that's what we're about, so in that way we connect.
Are there a lot of other records you put out before this?
Steven: That 10" they put out was all our old singles. We've had over ten 7" out before, and we had a single out on K Records over here. Yeah, so there were only a couple domestic released before this.
What is the music scene like in Glasgow, Scotland?
Steven: It's cool. I can't really compare it to anywhere you know, it's nothing like London. It's just got all these different sounding bands. Mostly it's a friendly network of bands. There's a lot of labels there. I do a label as well with local bands and stuff, when I've got the time. It's good because it's gotten more diverse. Back when Teenage Fanclub hit everyone out of Scotland was sounding like them that's changed.
