Here's the quick rundown: Presumably due to the very large turnout for February's contest, this one was spread out over two days: Novice and Expert classes (flatland and street) on Saturday, Masters flatland and street on Sunday. Unfortunately, the turnout wasn't huge again perhaps people couldn't make it both days; or maybe riders wanted to enter Novice or Expert but still watch the Masters. Whatever.
I was there both days, but spent all day Saturday riding flat in the parking lot (which is why you don't see any Novice or Expert street photos here). The flatland turnout was pretty good (even though not everybody entered). Sunday there were more flatlanders than skatepark riders, and the Masters Street contest was cancelled (some riders couldn't make it due to injuries, others just weren't to be found). Masters Flatland was pretty cool, though and very windy with some damn good riding being put in by Brian Chapman, Jesse Hicks, and Jared Souney (among others). X-Game superstars Brian Tunney and Leif Valen were also in attendance, much to the delight of some of the younger riders who were stoked to see real-live pros up close. The two-day contest idea is a good one long one-day contests that start at noon and run into the night can be a pain. I just think that it didn't quite work out this time. Perhaps a better idea would be to run all flatland classes on Saturday (which also gives skatepark riders an extra day to practice), and all street on Sunday. Who knows...I had fun riding that weekend, and that's all that matters to me.
(These are all I have right now...)
