Rich Upjohn

Do you mind if I ask you some questions?
Nope.

Let's start with your age.
Well, yeah, now I mind! (laughter). 28.

Your home.
Framingham, Mass.

Your bike.
(laughs) General.

And damn proud of it, huh?
Damn proud.

When are you going to get rid of that thing?
I'm looking around at all sorts of bikes, looking for one I want to ride.

How long have you been into BMX?
I was into BMX in seventh grade and that's it.

(laughs) So you dislike being referred to as a "BMXer"?
As soon as I traded in the pink leathers for, um...

Black jeans?
...black jeans, that was all over with.

So how long have you been freestyling, then?
Um, well, I'm 28...14 years, something like that.

How'd you get started in riding?
Well, everyone had a BMX bike when I was younger. And when everyone else stopped doing it [racing] because it was lame I started doing tricks instead, and I just kept going.
