eWire: All right, we'll try to make this short for you. Dr. Frank: Okay First question, what is your favorite Norse god? My favorite Norse god...that's a pretty good question. Uh, wow...even though he's not really a god but a half-god, a hero -- I'm going to say Wayland the Smith. I don't know if you're familiar with that story, but essentially it's the Norse version of the same folktale as Daedelus in Greek mythology. Do you know this one? I'm vaguely familiar with it. Look it up, it's a great story. He's my favorite one. Of course Odin is kind of exciting, too, because of being hanged and being limed and being a cantankerous curmudgeon, I kind of appreciate that too. What about Thor? Thor? Thor is a little bit less exciting...are you Thor people? (laughter) Well, one of the reasons we asked you is because we went to the MTX Cyber Friends Web page, and there's something there about supposedly your previous band... Oh yeah, that's someone's idea of a joke. When my friend saw that he didn't know what you looked like, so he said "Look was Frank was in!" I went to it and was like "Oh my God, that's not Frank!" I've never actually seen it, my computer is too primitive to allow me to download it. But I've heard a lot about it and I know it's not real.

			It's pretty damn funny. So now I understand the question. Was your thesis at UC-Berkeley actually the complicated history of the concept of the soul? That was my junior thesis, which was not the "real" one. My senior thesis was on the voyage of St. Drevden [?], [here Frank gives the thesis' Latin title which I won't try to replicate], a Latin text, sort of an offshoot of the genre of the saint's life. But the platonic concept of the soul was the one I did when I was a junior. On this philosophy kick, is there any philosopher whose ideas you use for your own life or the band? I don't know if it affects the band any. But I'm going to give you a name I believe is important for people who are serious about such things to read: his name is Eric Voegelin. His major is work is "Order and History" in five volumes. If you care, it's worth checking out. More...
