Chain Gang

Those of you from the late 80's probably remember the plethora of riding 'zines that existed back then. Since I was one of those 'zine editors, I remember getting a new 'zine every week (that's no exaggeration). These days, you'll be hard-pressed to find anyone crazy enough to spend a lot of their time and money doing a 'zine. Luckily, not everyone is sane: John Maul is one of the few remaining riding 'zine makers left, still churning out Chain Gang after all these years.

Issue #9 isn't as thick as some past issues, but that's okay. He's still going with the larger 8 1/2 x 11" format (rather than the half-sized 'zines most of us did), and though he's not a Luddite, there's no computer-generated stuff here (save for scanned photos): old-fashioned typewriter and cut & paste works fine for John, thank you very much. As far as content goes, there are stories (Florida, RI's Two-Pi skatepark, Woodward), interviews (Jerry Bagley, Mark Rainha), and some other stuff (including the popular CG quotes section).

You should be able to pick up Chain Gang at Dick Maul's Bike Shop in Halifax, MA, or send $3 to Chain Gang 'Zine, P.O. Box 41, Halifax, MA 02338.
